Even though she grew up in the jarring, beautiful chaos of the city that is Manila, Aya was naturally drawn to the calm and power of the ocean. She found the joy of surfing in 2004 and it has been a big part of her life ever since. Surfboard and cameras in tow, she started documenting her experiences and perspective from the water.

These photos were taken with various cameras like the Nikonos II, Nikonos V, Yashica T4, Pentax 67ii, Polaroid 180, Olympus Stylus Epic, and a Canon AE1.
